More Grimm Tales – May 2013
Adapted by Carol Ann Duffy: Dramatised by Tim Supple. By arrangement with Samuel French
Come with Berkhamsted Youth Theatre on a journey into the heart of the wood for a celebration of the imagination. We intend to both bewitch and haunt you with an adaption of several tales by The Brothers Grimm. Don’t go jumping to any conclusions though. These will not be fairy tales for 3 year olds in the style of Disney or a pantomime, but rather something dark, funny and wondrous with qualities of nightmare, cruelty, magic, laughter and a bit of gore!
Embracing the physical style of theatre, performed in the round, and with original music by Judith Sheridan, this production should both scare and enchant you. Will the Wolf dance a tango? Can Rumplestiltskin really perform magic? How much porridge does it take to fill the Court Theatre?
